Home Learning
At Southville, we use a range of online learning platforms which your children can access from home. Some of these platforms may be used to give the children short homework tasks.
The majority of the login information for these platforms will be in the back of your child's planner. If you do not have any login details, please contact the class teacher using the year group emails or through office@southville.hounslow.sch.uk with the subject 'FAO Year ...'.
In the case of technical difficulties, please refer to the guides throughout this page prior to emailing/phoning.
Google Classroom
In the case of incidents where working from home is required, Google classroom is where learning will take place. This includes live lessons and work assignments.

Mathletics
Mathletics is used from Year 1 - Year 6.
Mathletics reinforces the lessons that have been learned in school and help your children gain mastery of maths topics or push ahead of what's being taught.
Little Wandle Letters and Sounds
The Little Wandle Letters and Sound program is used to aid children in their development of reading, writing and speaking. This program focuses on phonics and building a core understanding of how sounds make up words. These skills are then used throughout the rest of the child's education and are a key still in literacy for every-day life. This program is used between reception and Year 2.
The Little Wandle Portal can be found here - this is a section of our website dedicated to helping you support your child with their phonics.
Alongside the Little Wandle Program, we have implemented a E-Library so you can read your children's books with them at home. The Collins E-Library login details can be found in the letter sent home with your child and in the back of their home diaries.
Year 4 Multiplication Check
There is a new requirement for all year 4 students to complete a multiplication tables check in their June assessment period. This was introduced to assess whether children needed more support in learning their timetables.
This is a short online test of 25 questions on multiplication tables between 2 and 12. They are given 6 seconds per question and a 3 second break between each. This means the test should last for less than 5 minutes.
To reduce any stress that children may associate with this test, we encourage you to help your child to practice their time tables regularly. https://home.oxfordowl.co.uk/at-school/year-4-multiplication-tables-check/ provides some excellent advice on how to help your child prepare.
In addition to this, all children have access to the educational resource Times Tables Rock Stars which is a website that provides time-table games. You will have received login details for this website, or you can speak to your class teacher if you are unsure of your child’s details.
Purple Mash
Purple Mash is a platform that Southville uses primarily in our computing curriculum but also has uses in spelling, grammar and maths.
The software has a range of tools that allows pupils to try story creation, art, game design and more.

Times Tables Rock Stars is a maths program that helps children learn and perfect their times tables. This fun game-like application is designed to improve mental maths.

Reception - Year 6
The SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s Daytime Emmy®-nominated and award-winning children’s literacy website, Storyline Online®, streams videos featuring celebrated actors reading children’s books alongside creatively produced illustrations. Readers include Oprah Winfrey, Chris Pine, Kristen Bell, Rita Moreno, Viola Davis, Jaime Camil, Kevin Costner, Lily Tomlin, Sarah Silverman, Betty White, Wanda Sykes and dozens more.
